It’s a common belief that people don’t like change. True. But research has shown that what people really don’t like are the transitions from one reality to another—from the old to the new. Transitions can be slow or they can be fast. They can come as a surprise and they can come over and over again. One of the most important skills you can develop is foresight—the ability to anticipate the cascading impact of an event, action, or decision. This is particularly true in environments characterized by rapid change and transition. Even in more stable and predictable environments, foresight plays a pivotal role in functions such as marketing, Human Resources, strategy, and more. We offer several presentations that demonstrate what foresight looks like in real life situations, from business to government.

Often, we find ourselves accountable for producing results with people we didn’t hire and we can’t fire. Collaborating with and mobilizing others takes hard work and it always works better when you have a plan. We understand the process behind effective mobilization efforts and our presentations will teach you how to anticipate and avoid the landmines that commonly derail collective action.

Leadership isn’t restricted to certain positions or titles. It’s not tied to an age or to years of experience. We’ve developed a series of presentations that deconstruct leadership, casting it as an authentic performance intended to persuade others to commit their attention and their resources to the pursuit of a shared goal.

Professional Standards and Expectations: An 8-month course that introduces participants to the core competencies that define what it means to be a professional in a rapidly changing and increasingly complex world. The course blends online and offline learning modules that address the following:

  4. Mental health and well-being

Symphonic Mindset: How to thrive in complex environments—This is a 3-month course that introduces participants to the mindset and behaviors of those who have learned how to thrive in complex situations and environments.

Symphonic Leadership: How to lead change and manage transition—This 9-month course is ideal for those individuals who want to be more effective leaders in times of continuous change and rapid transition. The course blends online and offline learning modules that address the six responsibilities that define the symphonic leader.

Foresight: How to prepare yourself for the future—This 3-month course introduces participants to the difference between hindsight, insight, and foresight. The course will help you begin to prepare yourself for the potential trends and scenarios that are likely to shape your future.

Emotional Bunkers: Why we can’t get along—This 9-month course introduces participants to the common landmines that contribute to sending people into emotional bunkers and the challenges of pulling us out of those bunkers. The course highlights 7 landmines that are likely to trigger resistance and withdrawal—from history to culture.

Getting Better Together: How to help others improve their performance—This 6-month course introduces participants to a framework designed to identify the most effective performance intervention tools in group settings. The course explores gaps in knowledge, skills, motivation, and effort and the links between each of them.

Road Mapping: A framework for thinking strategically—This 3-month course introduces participants to a comprehensive framework that defines what it means to think strategically. Using the metaphor of a road trip, the course helps you identify the elements that will shape the quality of your journey—from the fuel and vehicles you select to the drivers and passengers that occupy them. The course helps you anticipate the “road blocks” and the “hazards” that are likely to appear once you start moving—from the landmarks and detours along the way.

Why We Act: Designing Performance—This 9-month course introduces participants to the design principles that influence individual and group behavior. Using insights from social science, the course highlights the importance of context, identity, interaction, loyalty, and achievement on collective performances.

Move the Crowd: How to mobilize people—This 6-month course introduces participants to the prerequisites for action and the mechanics of mobilization, highlighting the importance of attention, imagination, values, desire, and intent.

Collaborate: How to get people to work together—This 9-month course introduces participants to the process behind collaboration, exploring seven moments or phases in the path toward effective collaboration: confusion, contention, conversation, connection, cooperation, collaboration, and finally creation.

COACHING

We provide diagnostic tools that foster increased self-awareness by enabling you to assess and diagnose your leadership abilities and increased situational awareness by diagnosing organizational systems, team dynamics, and social networks. Our coaching approach is three tiered: a) goal oriented, which focuses mainly on transitions and on a specific objective; b) competency focused, which brings awareness and practice into a particular area of skill; and c) shifting into “a way of being” method–which takes a more behavioral approach and holistic stance in all domains of individual development.
